Freedom Fest 2010 Volunteers Report
On July 4, 2010 volunteers from the Imperial County Sheriff's Office assisted with Freedom Fest at Imperial Valley College. There were five volunteers from the Sheriff's Posse, seven Reserve Deputies, ten from De Anza Rescue and numerous Explorers.
Volunteer Coordinator Sr. Deputy Yvonne Naud wrote, "I must compliment the Explorers for their contribution to the event. They seemed to be posted everywhere on the IVC campus, were highly visible and a great representation of their unit.
" There were no problems on the campus during the event, and I heard that there were about 60,000 people in attendance for the Freedom Fest fireworks. De Anza SAR and the Explorers were so well organized in getting the parking lots cleared after the fireworks. Also, the Reserves and De Anza provided great security to the campus, driving around on their ATV's throughout the campus. The Posse were very diligent in securing the perimeter of IVC, especially the area where the fireworks were being set off."
